OGILVIE SYNDROME AFTER EMERGENCY CESAREAN SECTION: A CASE REPORT

Ogilvies syndrome describes an acute colonic pseudo-obstruction (ACPO) consisting of dilatation part or all the colon and rectum without intrinsic extrinsic mechanical obstruction. It often occurs in debilitated patients. Its pathophysiology is still poorly understood. Several theories have been incriminated: nervous, vascular, hormonal,medicinal,metabolic disorder, infectious…Since computed tomography (CT) reveals a sharp transition cut-off between dilated non-dilated bowel, possibility organic obstruction must be excluded. If there are no criteria gravity, initial treatment should conservative pharmacologic using neostigmine decompression gas also favored treatment. Surgery considered only as final option if medical treatments fail perforation suspected. We report case (or Ogilvie syndrome), after caesarean section, treated medically by colonoscopicexsufflation.
